She stared off into the distance and could almost feel the willow tree branches brush her shoulder as the the cool evening breeze danced around her. She could hear the creaky dock that invited her each early morning of vacation for a moment of solitude with her coffee and the still sound side of the Outer Banks. For a second, her trance was interrupted by student outside her window trudging through the snow. Tracks now made the soft white blanket imperfect. She looked back at her computer and sighed. It would be several cold months until she would see the iridescent shell of a June bug buzz by her or sit outside of the oceanside cafe surrounded by sun and sand, but these summer dreams would be just enough to get her through at least this winter day at the office.
