about this story
In this story the main character sees that doors are opening for her and she is excited to see what those opportunities are going to blossom into. It is the beginning of her teaching career and she knows that she wants to make a difference in her students' lives. One of the main ways that she is going to do this is by incorporating real life into her everyday lessons. For example her students learned about the Inca empire and so she brought some Inca nuts into the classroom. These delicious treats would have most likely been enjoyed by the people of that civilization and so she wanted her students to enjoy them. She also held a potluck with food from her various students' cultures. She shares her life with the kids ensuring that they know that she has two dogs (Bubba and Princess) and that she is a fighter for education. This teacher will always fight for them to get the education they deserve!
