I was drinking coffee in a cafe when an odd-eyed, piebald white cat peered up from under the table. I petted the cat and had a macaroon. Suddenly a gecko dropped from the ceiling and bit my finger. The white cat looked at me again as if to say, "Watch out for the geckos."
