One bright fall day I took a canoe trip down Bog Stream in Jay. The slow and lazy water helped me drift onward toward Chesterville. The autumn leaves were drifting onto the water and the bankings all around me. I reveled in the sweet autumn scenery.
Suddenly a busy squirrel emerged from the undergrowth. His cheeks were stuffed with nourishment for the winter. He was definitely startled to see me so he didn't wait around for long.
Clouds began to obscure the sun and the drifting leaves were joined by fluffy snowflakes slowly drifting to the ground. The snow storm built in intensity until I decided that I needed to hurry toward my destination.
I beached the canoe in Chesterville, loaded it into my waiting pickup and then drove back toward the city with deep regret.
