It was a beautiful sunrise in the desert. We'd spent the night photographing the night stars and the full moon. My father had wanted me to attend UVA but I'd hoped a freight train and moved out west. My first companion was Skippy a small black puppy that I found on the side of the railroad tracks when I jumped off in Arizona. My first job in Arizona was running the merry go round at the zoo. I knew nothing about merry go rounds but somehow had talked the park into hiring me. I believe the only reason they hired me because I knew the stone rabbits around zoo were designed by Jimmy Carter.
