My name is Frank. You wouldn't think so because I am not frank at all in my interactions, at least that's what my therapist says. Every session, she says, "I want you to be completely frank with me." I laugh. "I am Frank with you. That's my name." She thinks its undignified for a 37-year old man to make such a lame joke, but lately that all I got. Because I don't know how else to be but not me. She sent me to a workshop called "Rediscovering Your True Self - How to Live an Authentic Life." I just went regardless of the fact I think it is all a bunch of new age crap. Mostly I went because it went the workshop was being held in village in the Peruvian Andes. Man.. that should have put up yellow flags. Who rides 10 hours on mountain switchbacks in a dilapidated bus to listen to some self-important, trust fund hippie turned workshop facilitator. But I went, because, Like I said what I was doing wasn't working. I had no friends except other people who couldn't be frank and I stopped feeling anything when I watched the news. Enough said.
The double prop 1980 airplane careened down onto a grassy plateau. There was no one there to meet me and my brand new lime green back pack. Despite my objections and rants, the plane flew off. I saw and building on the other side of the plateau and set off to it. My head felt like it was goingto explode, my mouth was dry. High altitude, I thought. A rodent scurried across in the grass, wind rattled me. I squinted to see the structure in the distance more clearly.
