about this story

Fourty years ago, Joe was a little boy. He didn't have lots of friends - only three, but they were truly his best friends. Together they enjoyed many activities, such as football, baseball and, of course, swimming. They had "their" rock, which they simply called "The rock". It was used by them as a diving board - the friends used to climb to the top of it, then jump right into the ocean, enjoying the free fall for a moment. Those four boys had a lot fun while doing it and never even thought about a possibility for all of this to become a tragedy. One sunny day, after two hours of intense fun, when the friends were already going to leave the place and go home, Joe asked them to wait a second - he wanted to jump one last time... And it was truly his last time - despite the fact that he knew every little spot of this rock, Joe slipped and, for the first time in few years of enjoying his life on this rock, he felt that something was wrong. And something was wrong - his neck was broken after suffering a collision with "The rock".

Joe spent the majority of the rest of his life in bed together with his faithful cat. The three of his best friends also came to visit sometimes. The thing is that they were all working abroad - Michael took part in creating a Malaysian zoo, Dexter was playing the piano in Italy and Austin was working as a chef in one of the most famous Hawaiian restaurants. Life has separated the "fantastic four" and they were not able to meet as often as they used to do that on "The rock".
