about this story
Me and my friend Erika have been best friends forever. She moved to Toronto last year to attend the theatre program at Ryerson University. I was so happy for her as it has always been her dream to attend Ryerson. I have not seen her for about a year besides the occasional Skype but she invited me to come visit her at her school so that I can meet all of her new friends. It's halloween so we are attending a huge halloween party at a trendy restaurant in the city. From our skype conversation it appears as if she has changed a lot. She is way more outgoing and her friends seem so accomplished and confident. I feel myself becoming more and more insecure at the thought of meeting them and being reunited with my best friend. I mean what have I accomplished?
Down in my doubts I remembered the steps and decided that this was a perfect opportunity to put them into action. I was staring face to face with my inner self filled with insecurity. I shouted as loud as I could "LISTEN!". It all came flooding back to me, Erika is my best friend and nothing can change that. If she loves her friends I will learn to love them too. I will go to this party and soak up all that the city has to offer!
