about this story

Mortimer had the good sense to die near the magic berry bush. The berry was his last meal--as a mortal--and would nourish him at The Rising. After his resurrection, he stood on the mountain peak and beheld his kingdom. He wandered for forty days and forty nights through the bleak mists of the mountains. On his travels, he met a woman with copious facial hair. Tired of his aimless wandering, he agreed to go with her to one site where the humans played their petty games. Upon entering this "fun city," he beheld the Wondrous Wheel. The peglegged carny offered little Mortimer a ride. From the top of the wheel, Mortimer could survey the city, and he decided, then and there, to stay and let his dark plans expand across space and time. After getting off the ride, Mortimer inched his way to the city center to zombify the human race. . .
