I know what you're thinking - where is the goat? Why is the name of this story about an animal in Miami? Are there really goats in Miami? So many questions and so many possible answers eh? Well I suppose I better start at the beginning, which happened to be about 6 months ago in a small village in the North of England called Ambleside. I used to own a florist on the busy corner in the centre of town where all the tourists had to slow down. It was a perfect place for a florist, or so I thought. I'd owned the shop for 5 years and made a good living. Everyone likes flowers don't they? People are always falling in love, getting married, apologising after having fights, celebrating birthdays and dying. Life was great - until that damn goat broke free from its tether in the field behind my shop and broke into the shop in the dead of night. I know I know, goats aren't burglars, but this one managed to break through a dodgy back door and destroyed everything edible in the shop, and many things which aren't edible. I was distraught, and my insurance company were not sympathetic.
"We don't cover goat damage." Was the only reply I had.
Thanks....a lot.
I found the goat lurking in a corner and in a fit of fury sold it to a shocked tourist from Tanger who seemed to take a shine to my new fat friend.
I mpved to Miami for a fresh start and bought a music store as a way to forget the past. I called it 'The Goats of Miami'but I don't think the locals understood my humour. The only animals I allow inside are pet stick insects and luckily they are few and far between.
