John was a strange child. He had schizophrenia and not many friends, except for his frog, Hermit. He would sit next to the tree outside his bedroom window and just talk to Hermit about everything. The other kids wouldn't play with John because Hermit would only talk to him.
John lived in a tiny town. The kind of town where everybody knew everyone. John knew that town like the back of his hand. Although he loved that place, he wanted an adventure. He would constantly complain, "Mom, why cant we go somewhere else? I want to be as happy as I was when I found Hermit." "Not right now, sweetie," his mother would say. "Maybe someday, just not now."
Many years passed before he got to leave that town. He left for college with Hermit and the invitation from Princeton University. Everyone always told him he wasn't good enough, or smart enough to do anything. But the inspiration from his frog, Hermit, led him to graduate the top of his class, publish numerous scientific studies, and receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
