about this story
It was a cold winter day, and again she sat alone in her car reading. Dreaming of a place somewhere that only her books could take her. She had read of vast blue oceans that stretched as far as the eye could see and beyond. Where the only sounds were the gentil crashes of the waves, and the hypnotic rippling of the waves could rock you to sleep. She read of lush green forests where the trees were overgrown and blocked out the sunlight. Forests where the trees were so tall that the tops scraped the clouds. She had read books on exotic birds who could mimic you or fly away over mountains. But when she puts her book down, reality sets back in. Here she is now, and here she will stay. In a city where the streets are't paved with gold, where friendly faces are hard to come by. And this is what she calls home.
