The Cat takes a walk in the library,
Silent and musty and hollow
But he sees a world of magic
As he weaves through the halls
Adventure, mystery, color
For he can read the books.
The Cat trails down the road,
Alone, by the gray and red trees
They are looming and brooding
Yet he revels in the freedom of Autumn
Crisp and chilly and fresh
The world seems to be apart from everything.
Now the Cat is by people,
Slinking past tattered houses
Stones shiver beneath his feet
The end of the street is unseen
He is wary of the people.
Finally, after traveling
Through all those various paths
He arrives, it seems,
At a great field of gold
Where he can be happy
For the rest of his life.
