See that pebble. That one. No, not the big one - the one to the left - higher, higher - there. That's me. A small pebble in a big world; trying to make a difference; trying to find purpose.
Eat. Sleep. Teach. That's my life now and I couldn't be happier.
I remember the moment I realized I wanted to be a teacher: I was six. I had accompanied my mom (who is also a teacher) to her school. I walked the halls of St. Elizabeth High School feeling very small and terrified. As I walked down the hall, eyes on the floor, I started to realize that people were saying my name. Everyone seemed to know who I was. I was famous!
In the classroom, I sat at my mom's desk and watched her teacher. She was so inspiring and engaging that I knew in that moment I wanted to be like her. I wanted to be the person at the front of the room: teaching, inspiring, learning and engaging a room full of people.
From that moment on, I did what I had to to make my career dream come true. I went to University and got my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. I got on sub lists and volunteered at various schools until I landed a fantastic job at a fantastic school.
Every day is new. Every day is an adventure. Teaching is my passion and I'm thrilled to be doing what I love.
