I had walked through the tunnel all my life. On my way to school, then as I travelled to work at the post office. Now as I began my retirement I would walk though the tunnel, early every morning, to go to the park and paint.
At 12:30 precisely I take out my sandwiches, and hoping that the ducks will not pay me two much attention, lay them besides myself. I eat the crusts first, and then enjoy the texture of the soft cheese and white bread.
Now I am aware that the story so far makes me sound rather dull. This may have been true in the past, but I decided that this must change. No longer the grey suit and tidy moustache, instead I decided to break all the rules about how my appearance should look. None of them shall call me dull now. Never again will I not be noticed.
As well as changing my appearance I took to dancing in the street. There is now law against this, although at times you wouldn't think it by the reactions I get. Even the police attempt to move me along, so I dance outside their station. Which they hate.
If they're going to try and prevent me from performing legal things like dancing, I will have to go further and give them something to really complain about. Perhaps I will abseil down their precious building. Naked. When I've finished my painting.
