about this story
Monica was that popular girl, you know who I'm talking about. Every grade, school, town has one. The stuck-up, seemingly perfect blonde skinny girl who was your basic threat to middle school egos everywhere. And Monica was no exception. She did drama club during her free periods. Her best friends were loyal-or so she thought-and so was her boyfriend. Her teachers loved to playfully pick on her and call on her constantly because she had unwittingly gotten the role of "teacher's pet" in the sixth grade at the Texas Valley Middle School.
-her family was one of the richest in town, then suddenly become poorest
-forgets her only jacket at a park bench (tie in to the game she used to play in drama club)
-someone bent barbed wire around the fence in their front yard, which killed her dog
her sister, (mom?) got pneumonia and died
-her boyfriend disappears out of town
-only other kid at the poor shelter is a boy and teaches her the joys of the harmonica (her name) they play in harmony
-she teaches him the joys of drama, which she used until she couldn't afford school anymore
-"be kind to everyone because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle"
