Five Card Story: Quiet

"It's strangely quiet after then end of the world." This was his thought as he made his way through the abandoned streets. He observed the unfinished graffiti on the walls and wondered what could have happened here to make them leave so suddenly. Half packed bags and unfinished sandwiches lay rotting in the streets. Try as he might he could not piece together what could have caused this chaos. "Where," he thought, "are the bodies? It appears to have happened suddenly, but there aren't any bodies."
He made his way into the next building and wandered up the stairs in search of a place to spend the night. As he climbed, he noticed the cockroaches decaying on each step looking as if they were suddenly struck dead while trying to flee.
"What am I still doing here?" he wondered aloud as he reached the next landing. "Why aren't I dead?"
That is when he observed the noticed posted to the wall.
"Well, isn't that peculiar." He thought as he moved closer to get a better look at his own face plastered to the wall under the bold letters: WARNING.
