Seeking inspiration for his novel, David was instinctively lured to the seaside where he often sought repose from the lonely task of sitting at his computer, typing languidly in the hope of a future best-seller. The bicycle inherited from his late father seemed the most refreshing form of transportation as he attempted to clear the cobwebs in readiness for the next chapter. Some time later, having finally arrived at his favourite mooring on the jetty, with the cold wind and frosty air causing a sustained throbbing in his temples, David watched in stillness as seagulls drew nearer in search of food. Swooping hungrily on morsels thrown to them by eager children, the greedy birds reminded him of his childhood in the Grampians, where flocks of cockatoos unashamedly alighted on every available pine cone in search of the nourishing seeds within. The biting sprays of the sea were a long way from the stillness of the forest. Despite this, his soul and spirit had been reawakened and he rode eagerly back to his keyboard.
