Five Card Story: The Race

"Hey man!" yelled the guy in the junk car. "You wanna race?". "Uhhh...Sorry bro I got to get my lizard home,"he replied. "You scared?"said the instigator. The man then agreed and said they could race to the brick building with the flag and the stairwell down the street. They pulled up to the light in each lane and would take off when it turned green. The light flickered green and they were of with both cars reaching easily 70 mph now halfway there and the man in the junk car slowed down and he hit a beer bottle and it popped his tire. He skid out of control and crashed into a tree on the side of the road and it fell right on Broadway. The other guy slowed down and passed the building and pulled over. He got out and walked down the street and said to the man "I win," he said cheerfully. He got back in the car and drove home and put his lizard in his terrarium. A week later he received a call that the man he raced had died and was being buried that day. He put some nice clothes on and grabbed a piece of tree bark and wrapped some flowers in it and placed it on his grave. He passed the brick building and stopped by the tree that the other guy hit and said "better luck next time."
