about this story

Last summer, when I was working at my part-time job as a stand-up comedian, under the bright, hot lights, I decided I needed a break from the stress. I had always wanted to be like James Dean in "Easy Rider," riding down the road with my hair blowing in the wind. So, I decided to go on a road trip in that fashion. However, I had a problem--no wheels. At first, I thought I should use my cousin Emilio's old motorcycle, but then, I remembered that it was rusty, and the tires were flat as pancakes. I wouldn't get very far with that thing. I had to find some other wheels. I didn't have much money, but I remembered that my uncle Tom, who collected antique cars, had a 1967 Porsche that he wasn't using. Seriously, it just sat in his garage!

I asked Uncle Tom if I could use it for my Easy Rider road trip, and he said, "Yes." Oh, man! I was excited! And the next week, I hit the road. I took long drives through small towns all over the western part of the United States. When the weather was nice, which it mostly was, I took the top off and road through the green and gold countryside with my hair looking like a wild main going every which way. It was relaxing and I loved my road trip.

I am back now, and I don't have to do that horrible job anymore as a stand-up comedian. Instead, I direct cars for the Seahawks games, not ride them, but I still love being outdoors.
