Ballad
I pack up my crayons
The bell rings and school is out
No more homework
I scream and shout
No more waking up early
And no more notes
Summer is finally here
It’s time to go out on the boat
I come home
My mom has made me a surprise
It’s my favorite
Chicken Pot Pie
After I’m done eating
My mom assigns me a chore
I clean the bathroom, and scrub the floor
And then she wants more!
She says we will have guests
And that they are coming over tonight
I don’t want to stay home
It’s the first summer night!
As the nights winds down, and I turn around
I see a tiny bird sitting on a tree
Then I wonder to myself
If he is as excited for summer as me
