When I was a kid, I was afraid of dogs. In my neighborhood almost everyone had a dog. And not the cute fuzzy kind either, but the biggest, loudest, and scariest of dogs I've ever seen. Sometimes when I was out playing with my friends the dogs would get angry and chase us down the street. They would chase us all the way to where the buildings were made of red brick and the windows were shattered. I loved my neighbourhood, though, other than the dogs. In fact if it wasn't for the intimidating and unintelligent creatures I probably never would have left. I realized at a young age that dogs didn't live in the ocean. So the ocean is where I will go, I would tell myself. Soon enough I was on a train traveling as far away from home as I possibly could. I still remember the leather seats I sat in on the train that showed me the world.
