about this story

i was walking with my best friend
from a sunny place that stung
we had just hurt each other for the first time
not on purpose
not intentionally
but we both hurt each other

and as i was walking
with each of us wrapping an arm around the other
i felt how deeply best this friend was
even in vulnerability
even in fragility
i knew i was safe

then we walked into a new place
together into a hazy new depth
unrecognizable freshness beyond flesh
we had bled a little into each other
we had not pulled away
i knew i was walking with a truly dear one
