Five Card Story: Escape!

We were trapped behind the barbed wire and we had to escape if we ever hoped to get back to our families and prove we were still alive! Diego, Robert, Samantha and I escaped just before dawn and ran through a huge field of wheat that seemed to go on forever. We could hear the sirens of the compound going off and the could hear the bark of the dogs getting closer. Our keepers really didn't want us to get to civilization to tell the truth of what happened in that building. Robert, Diego and I ran so fast that I didn't realize that Samantha had fallen behind! Just as we made beyond the field of wheat and through a tree line I looked back and all I could hear was Samantha yelling and I could see the her hand reaching for me but I couldn't go back. I knew I would be sending her help soon enough. We must have been on the outskirts of a small town because we came across a small downtown area and a bike rack. We're not thieves but on this day we had no choice. We took 3 bikes and we peddled until the town was in the distance. We stayed hidden by biking in the hills and then peddled the road at night. The next day we came to small house with a barn so we decided to get some rest and stay hidden in the barn. We slept for a few hours and woke hungry and afraid. How far were our captors behind us? This is the only house around. Its only a matter of time before they or someone finds us here. We started looking for food or anything that could help us. Hidden in the back of the barn was something big under something that looked like a sheet. Luck was on our side! There was an old Delorean in there with the keys inside! We couldn't believe it! We made sure we were alone and then we started moving things out of the way. This car was our ticket home. It seemed like forever but we finally got everything cleared out so we climbed in and started her up. No problems! We hit the road and drove until we could see signs of a freeway. Then we drove some more; we needed to make sure we were far away from our house of terror. Just before we ran out of gas, we found a phone and I finally called home. "Mom! I'm alive!"
