about this story
We came to in the late afternoon, blinking as we beheld the field. We had no idea how we'd been transported here.
The last we recalled was the Combine, who had us working in the city under the gaze of many, many robots. We had left the building and were walking city streets and then -? It's a blank.
Rather than try to return to the Combine and the city we decided to flee. The ocean called, free of the Combine's influence. We found the beach and leaped from clifftops. Our modified bodies flourished under water, and we felt the old memories slough off in the fresh, teeming, new world.
