It was a quiet morning. The morning prayer session had cleared out save but a few people. The man in the corner stared longingly across the courtyard as he closed his eyes and longed for the cool north Michigan weather back in the US and the fall colors. Here, there are no trees and colors don't change. Everything was unfamiliar, signs, visions, trees, he could never tell the difference between a stop sign and a religious symbol as he walked the streets in this part of the world. Back home people expressed themselves and wore their emotions on their sleeves, here, he felt like a lonely stranger navigating a sea of blank faces that kept him on edge. He's counting down the days till he returns home. Only 1,007 more hours to go......
