about this story

My childhood,
places and things always there,
New York City,
the church that showed me ways and beliefs I needed,
the pink tree in the dog park where I play,
the brick wall with a fence giving me a place to calm and collect myself,
life so simple,
little flowers flow as the wind blows,
the moss that turns my legs green,
the smoke that burns my eyes as I walk across the bridge,
shadows of buildings take me whole,
splitters consume my hands as I sit against the fence,
mud takes my shoes off of me as I show my love,
Life so simple not so long ago.
Now we consume our faces into phones and we don't see the beauty of the simple things.
