about this story

Taking shots to feel some type of pain, the burning liquor leaving a tingling sensation as I gulped it in just half a second. I continue doing that until I no longer remember the itchy feeling or your cotton wool sweater that's still laying on my closet floor escapes my memory.
Growing up, I would have never thought that I could ever mean so much to one amazing person. Well, you used to be amazing.
I take shots and drink all of my vodka, nearly giving myself a sore throat, as your name appears on my phone screen. Did you mean to do this? Or was it just some sort of puzzle that you could put together and tear apart as soon as all of the pieces fit? Let me tell you, my puzzle is nearly broken, like my heart. I walk by the fence everyday, going the same route to work. Even working at a plant nursery reminds my brain that you do exist and what we had disappeared as soon as you met her.
The tunnel, where her and I first met, has now been closed down. Perhaps as a sign that our friendship has disintegrated into the dust. The three worded phrase that, so easily, rolls off of your tongue whenever you see her nearly drowns me in my own sorrows. Just a year ago those were said to me, in the exact way and fashion. But not anymore.
My name is not her name. Her and I had about the same personality, some of the same secrets and most of the same likes and dislikes. See, we both hate and dislike people like you; manipulative, lying, all about your fantasy life. It didn't matter what I was going through when you left.
As I pick the last flower by our swing set and rip it to pieces, letting them flow into the cool, fall air. Slightly drifting apart, going in different directions, just like we did.
