about this story

The Great British Tortoise is under threat of extinction after being attacked from many sides. The first threat to the British tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) is global warming. The increase in greenhouse gases and subsequent raise in global temperature has resulted in the elevation of the body temperature of tortoises across the globe. This has led to many health issues that has increased tortoise fatalities.
The second area of attack has been the fact that tortoises have become a delicacy in Santiago chile and Pyongyang North Korea. The residents of these countries have been eating tortoises at an alarming rate and have imported huge numbers of tortoises for human consumption.
Ministers in the Uzbekistan capital of Tashkent, which is the largest exporter of tortoises worldwide, have met at a three day summit in order to discuss how to preserve tortoises and thus save their number one national product. After three days of talks it is believed a solution has been reached and the results of which are to be released at noon today.
