I was on one of my hikes and got so lost in thought that I ended up in the woods with no idea of where I was. Thankfully, after wandering around for over an hour, I came upon the tip of my warning light that I carry around with me for just these occasions so I could be found. Of course, I hadn't noticed it was gone until I wanted to use the light. Thinking I now had a sense of direction, I moved north from my find thinking I would make it back to the parking lot but came, instead, upon a big open field. Luckily, there was a farmhouse nearby where a nice woman offered me a cup of tea. Once I got a ride back to town, though, all I wanted was a cold beer and to regal my friends with my "near death" story lost in the woods and on the prairie in the same day.
