about this story

The walk by the stupid modern art pieces to work was the same every day for the most-part; sometimes there were other people walking along with me, sometimes the art was covered in snow, or dewdrops, and once it was on fire during the riots. I didn't go to work during the riots, the government payed me my wages for that month, and I just stayed in my apartment, ordering pizzas and Chinese food. I played video games for quite a while, but after that got boring I just stared out the window. I watched as the smoke from all the fires gradually blocked out the sunlight, and locking the city in a state of twilight. It was beautiful, but everyone knew that if the fires kept burning, people would start to suffocate. The fires stopped, but the sky stayed covered, now by the smoke from the factories and power plants. The executives had taken the riots as a chance to ignore regulation. The regulation changed after the riots, and the factories were allowed to keep filling the air. The smoke blotted out even the twilight, and my world was dark. I sat at my kitchen table for the whole day, as the government bought my workplace and laid everyone off. They wanted to make a new set of executive apartments. I had to leave my apartment, so I decided to leave the city. I hitchhiked with people who were in the same position until I got to the east coast, where the air was still clear, and you could walk all through town without crossing a police checkpoint. I stood on the coast, thinking about my life, and how terrible it could've been. I though about my friends and family, and their sacrifices to support the cause, while I sat in my apartment eating pizza and Chinese food. I threw myself from the rock face into the ocean, as an apology.
