The hike was easy, not challenging at all. My thoughts wander as I keep walking, legs pumping, working past the burnt trees from the fire years ago. The trees are burnt, just ash and charred stumps. It's a gloomy day but that makes it perfect. Lost in my thoughts as a move along the deserted path. I come along to a olden wood fence. Surprisingly not a plank was burnt in the middle of the black country side. Taking no mind I continue on. The farther I do go on;the fence still runs beside me. As I make myself back into the world of my own imagination a cat sprung out from the fence. Seemingly startled by the new visitor it races up the more engraved path. I continue on my way till I notice the cat jump over the fence and ran down a tunnel of sorts. As most say "Curiosity killed the cat." This trail seemed untouched and this burnt country side is unhabitual. The closer I move to the tunnel the more I wish to explore. As I reach the gate of the fence and begin to push the broken handle. It opens with ease as if its hinges were greased yesterday. The tunnel with closer expectation seems to be in great condition. Concrete not worn or charred. I slowly waltz down the mysterious stairwell. The farther I go down the more stark and apparent the cast iron bars appear. They begin to trace the sides of the now more narrow stairwell. The gloomy overcast bleaches the light but somehow it never dimmed. As I see a door emerge. Five words are carved in the black frame, "Community Church of God in Christ." As the door creaks opens, A figure creeps. He stops as if he's held back somehow, like he can't take the final step and pass through the door but he still moves up the stairs. Something draws him, and as most say "Curiosity killed the cat."
