about this story

I remember the first time I saw his number on a license plate. I was headed no place but to him in the abstract subconscious of my mind. He was a Picasso man, mysterious, multidimensional, matchless, like every book I had not yet read but yearned to hold. And I'd wonder, as I always do, what happens on page 55? Does he drive away again, forgetting me as the sunset forgets the sun, not forever but until the next rise? So I go to work, to teach my literature students about Picasso's painting, Writing Woman, and show them where I am. I'm typing a message to the man I love in Picasso's memory.
