about this story

My story is about a balancing act. It is about figuring our how one can impact policies and practices in the State of Virginia for students while continuing to enjoy the serenity of all the things life has to offer. If I had the ability I would rearrange the order my pictures appear. The first picture would be the one where you see the mechanics of a thinking machine(number 4); the mechanics of the machine represent all the hard work faculty and administrator do to create processes, technologies, courses and so much more that ultimately create a path to student success. The picture of the man on the horse would be next. It represents impacting all students in Virginia not just the ones at a single college. My work at the VCCS has provided opportunities for it, I want to continue in that space. Next, is the picture of the building on the beautifully landscaped park; representing a campus. Then it becomes about my path and you see a picture of the road. Where is my doctoral degree and all the many experiences I have leading? Lastly, regardless of the path and success, I hope to end up happy on my ranch sitting on my front porch looking out onto my own beautifully landscape mini farm we call Dandelion Countryside; hopefully with the realization that my life has/had meaning and that I took time to enjoy all it had to offer with the people that mean the most to me.
Semper Fi, Susan
