about this story

Picture 1 Accurate knowledge is important for a well functioning healthy society. Throughout history books have been the most widespread medium to distribute knowledge.

Picture 2 However in todays society the internet is where most people learn new ideas. Unfortunately this can lead to rampant misinformation because people often look for sources which reinforce their ideas and preconceptions. Because of this, science is dismissed by many and this rejection is equivalent to book burnings.

Picture 3 This kind of distrust of science and accurate knowledge can lead to Civil unrest, which in and of itself can lead to violence, wars, and death. Even today we have seen those who spurn science attack people who wear masks due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Picture 4(counterargument) Thankfully we have teachers and scientists like Dr. Indiana Jones who dedicate their lives to educating others and bettering the world through education.

Picture 5 (conclussion) Due to the widespread ease of finding information through the internet we have to do a better job of fighting misinformation to support true science, and truthful information to protect our world.
