Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher and one of the central Enlightenment thinkers. He is comprehensive and systematic in working in epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics have made him one of the most influential figures in modern Western philosophy.
Kant is practical, down to earth with strong ideas about right and wrong. He is organized, systematic and controlled and once committed he doesn't give up easily.
He was bought up in a Pietist household that stressed religious devotion, humility, and a literal interpretation of the Bible. His education was strict, punitive, and disciplinary, and focused on Latin and religious instruction over mathematics and science. Kant maintained Christian ideals for some time, but struggled to reconcile the faith with his belief in science.
"Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other, never merely as a means to an end, but always at the same time as an end."
