Plato was born in Classical Athens. As a young man, there once was a meeting that Socrates participated. Plato got impressed so much because of the methods of dialogue and debate by Socrates. So he decided to become a close associate of Socrates and he dedicated his life to to the question of virtue and formation of noble. After Socrates died Plato traveled for 12 years to study mathematics with the Phytagoreans in Italy and geometry, geology, astronomy and religion in Egypt. Then he began his extensive writing. There is some debate among scholars on the order of this writings, but most believe they fall into three distinct periods
