about this story

Zacatecas Mexico! This was where I was born. We were taught to always work for our own things. Getting up every morning at 6 am to set up our stand en la plaza! (public square/ Marketplace). Carrying our crops into our stand that was bright with colors! pinks, oranges, whites, blues and so much more! You might be asking aren't I supposed to be in school? Well it's not so easy to go to school here. My familia can't cover the expenses for uniforms or shoes, so I just work here in my family's food stand! Along with my little brother Alberto and my older sister Adriana! While we were setting up our food stand; the owner of our little old house that we were renting came up to us. We already knew what he was gonna say. "Hola! señor Santiago que hace aquí?!" (Hello Mr. Santiago what are you doing here?!" My mama said. "I came here to let you guys know that you will be getting evicted because of the 7 months of rent you owe. I'm gonna need you guys to pack your stuff and leave!." Santiago said in a demanding voice. "What?! No this can't be possible, Please give us some more time!" Mama said while panicking. "Have your stuff out by the end of the day" Santiago walks away like a professional business man. I couldn't believe we were getting evicted. My eyes were as wide as an elephant. We had to finish up here en la plaza though we needed the money to eat. The day went by and it was 8 pm closing time so we quickly packed up our stand and rushed back home. We looked like mice chasing cheese. As we got home we saw that all our stuff was being put into this big moving truck. In the corner was Santiago! My mama was angry and furious. She rushed up to him at a speed of light. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ALL OUR STUFF". " to the dumpster where they will burn it" Santiago responds. My papa rushes over to my mama and gets her away from Santiago. He already knew my mama would give Santiago a good smack in the cheek. We were now living in the streets like most people do here in Zacatecas. We got some cardboard and blankets and laid them out like a bed on the floor. Using the umbrella that we use for our food stand to cover us from the rain.
