about this story
A girl named Becca lost her parents two years ago. She was orphaned at the age of 13. To make matters worse, she was there as her parents had died. This memory, though she attempted to supress it, haunted her constantly, and her mother and father appeared in her dreams often. Though it was only their skulls, smiling at her. She often escaped to nature, though, feeding the swans in the nearby pond. They helped keep her humanity. None the less, images of her parents seemed to follow where ever she went. One day Becca is walking through town, until she hears soft piano in the streets. She finds it carries her away, and replaces her sorrow with awe. Eager to replace this feeling, Becca realizes the need she has to heal, and is done with her fears of death. She leaves that night, driving far through the country, tracing interstates that cut through miles of land. On this trip she seeks both sound and solitude, learning new things from every place she stops. She is no longer haunted by the skeletons.
