about this story

Oddly enough, after three years of construction, the belltower was finally completed yesterday.
I had forgotten its melody until I was awoken by six chimes this morning.
The ringing in my head lasted until I arrived at school only to be pushed aside by the tenor of my overly aggressive principal who had decided to change the entrance of our school. Betty, my annoying teaching colleague, stood up and clapped with excitement. I prefer bells ringing over perky teachers yelling.
My mind drifted off and I thought about the rich soil in a graveyard.
The day went by, mostly unexamined and uneventful. Few perky kids, thank god. Few perky teachers, thank god.
Just the hum drum of assignments, corrections, and lectures.
My apartment couch greeted me when I got home. And the ringing of the church's bell. Six more times for good measure.
