about this story

We were approaching this ancient museum in the middle of nowhere Egypt. There is a serious bout in Egypt with America and the Egyption army, similar to the Iranian oil issue 20 years ago in the middle east. The platoon has been here for a little over 2 weeks, and we were supposed to be here for only 5 days, in and out. Our evacuation helicopter pilot got shot down from an Anti-Air cannon in Cyro. The city has been keeping us here without realizing they are keeping us here. There is a bridge about 7 klicks away we are going to go to, in order to signal an evac. 7 klicks is about a 2-3 hour hike depending on terrain, and we are in sand so it takes a while to travel, solely because of the softness to it. The walk will be hot, long, and very dehydrating, and our provisions are lacking because we were long overdue for pick up. About half way there and my team is really slacking, although I'm not doing that good either, so I don't blame them. Water is low and we haven’t had much food for the past few days. We got to the bridge and there was a group of 15 or so egyption soldiers standing at a roadblock, not set up for anything, and they saw us, and started open fire. We had no rounds for our M60, and only a few spare magazines for our M4A1 carbines. We used up and the firefight ended quickly because ammo was scarce and we had to run back. We found this dark room to hide in and we called for an emergency evacuation from our home base. We stayed in this room for about 3 hours and ate our final MRE’s and got evacuated by a helicopter and flew to base. At the base there was a plane waiting for us to go to the airport and to get home. None of the squad has been home in over 3 months, so we were all pretty excited over this surprise.
