about this story

Walking through the silence, where the calm waters reside, is a boy whose name is Raph. Coming home from Century Island School, he walks by the Manhattan Bridge near the coastline all the way to his log cabin in the scary woods.

"The sun seems awfully dim today. It might rain, it might not." Raph said. "I'll just hope I get back home before it does."

While he's walking back home, he makes sure to check the lake if there are any fish for his family's dinner. He quickly pulls out the net from his bag.

"Snagged a bunch, woo! That's quite enough for today, isn't it?" he says to himself.

The boy puts on a pair of headphones to listen to some relaxing music just near the sidewalk by his house. The headphones suddenly stop and he hears a faint noise in the distance. Startled, the boy began asking if there was anybody in the vicinity. When he blinks, the world has been stripped of color.

A faint voice says, "Do you see the importance of appreciating beauty in this world with color?" Raph got speechless and realized he never appreciate any of his gifts. But now, he promises to appreciate his family and everything.
