about this story

Introduction (pic 1)
Children of different ages and different backgrounds, like the children in this image, all need to live in happy and healthy homes with a loving family to thrive.

(pic 2)
Unfortunately, much like this city street, children are sometimes abandoned and their parents either cast them aside or because the parents are unable to care for their child, they put their child up for adoption. The reason why parents do this is because they may not be financially or mentally stable enough to support their children.

(pic 3)
Children need a stable and caring living environment to grow and develop healthily. They need to receive a proper education, have proper care, live socially, and run around and play like the children in this image.

(pic 4)
Parents are sometimes forced to put their children up for adoption and have them sent to foster homes and have to separate from their children, like the parent and child in this image. When children are put up for adoption or placed in foster homes, a lot of these necessities are taken away from them. Children in the foster care system are at a significantly higher risk of mental and physical health problems. They can develop issues ranging from learning disabilities, developmental delays, and depression to behavioral issues, and have health problems such as asthma and obesity. For these reasons, I believe foster homes are an ineffective and inhumane way to house and care for parentless children.

Counterargument and conclusion (pic 5)
On the contrary, some parents believe it is better to have their children in the foster care system because to them, it is better to be there rather than in an unstable home with little financial stability. Foster homes provide homes, food, and bare necessities to children in need when the parents cannot provide it to them. I understand that some children have no choice but to stay in foster homes like the one in this image, but I still do not believe they provide children with all the attention, care, and living conditions they need to live happily and healthily. In conclusion, since there's no possibility of eradicating foster homes, I believe we need to make a lot of changes to the foster care system to better suit children of all ages and make them happy and safe places for kids to live until they find their forever homes.
