His father, although a general practioner in his original career, had a very evident interest in Philosophy. He even contributed two papers in the Aristotelian society in its early days. Aside from this, his love for Philosophy was seen in his massive and variagated library. Looking up to his father, Gilbert Ryle, might not have the life changing experience that led him to be interested in Philosophy but growing up reading omnivorously in their library and his father's influence was enough for him to be hooked on and love the discipline.
