about this story

)Plato believes that people are made up of pure egos or immaterial souls. According to this viewpoint, people have bodies solely if they choose to, not because they have to; hence, they can exist beyond death.

)According to Plato, the soul, conceived of as self, has three parts, namely: 1) the appetitive soul/appetite; 2) the spiritual soul; and 3) the rational soul/mind.

)The appetitive soul/appettite, the appetitive soul/appetite, is located in the abdomen. This is the part of the soul that drives the human person to experience physical pain, hunger, thirst, and other physical wants.

)The spiritual soul, on the other hand, is located in the chest. It enables the person to experience happiness, joy, sadness, abomination, anger, and other emotional feelings.

)Last but not least, the rational soul/mind. For Plato, the rational soul is located in the head. Being located in the head, the rational soul enables the human person to think, reflect, analyze and do other cognitive functions.
