Rene Descartes credited as the "Father of Philosophy". He is known for his philosophical statement "I think, therefore I am" and he argued that self is either mind or a human being. And in his book, Meditations on First Philosophy, he discussed dualism.And with his ties to dualism, he believed that mind is the seat of our consciousness and gives us our identity and sense of self. For example,
you understand the situation in which you find yourself. Besides yourself is dependent on how you are consistently conscious of your mind, you are aware of your perceiving, thinking, and reasoning then it is possible for you to identify who you truly are.
