Bartree Simpson, down on his luck, still smiles anyway. He walks towards the airport, severely depressed and going to a funeral. As he walks through security in a blur, the airplane experience turns out to be less than ideal. On board, he meets a strange man named "Tyler Durden". What could this man want, as he rants to Bartree about soap? And a very nosy pup is going under his chair to sniff him. What kind of plane ride is this? As he gets off the plane, he's dreading every single moment. This is the funeral for his guinea pig, "Scrungo" that he had 5 months ago, showing Bartree just can't let go. Since the funeral is right by a lake, he reflects in an empty chair, overlooking the lake, without a slightly furry friend right next to him.
