Silence surrounded her in the church
She was taught to fear the fern birch
Yet she looks out windows with open eyes
Beyond the clover comfort of her mama's pies
She lies below daisies to sleep away
Her dreams shine through tree leaves in May
Jumping rusted fences to finally escape
To sunset skies with fields of grapes
And open fields with playful deer
Where sounds themselves are free from fear
