about this story

On a chilly autumn afternoon, she strolled down Monument Ave. in Richmond, VA holding an old recipe book. A treasured heirloom from her grandmother, its pages were worn and stained with decades of love and use. She wandered past stately monuments and the silent gravestones of an old graveyard, where the past whispered through crimson and gold leaves. Parked nearby was an old white car, a relic of a bygone era. Emily paused beside it, her eyes reflecting the glow of the setting sun, feeling a deep connection to the history around her and the generations that had walked these paths before her, as she carefully opened the book to her grandmother's favorite recipe- sweet potato pie.
