about this story

Introduction (Pic 1): Throughout K-12, students learn indoors and this typically involves the use of smartboards, computers, and other digital tools. A lot of the time, this limits how often students interact with other students, specifically in group settings.

Pic 2: It is important that students spend more time interacting with and working with other students in their classrooms because if they do not, they will not develop the proper skills to work with others. Later in college and in the workplace, they can struggle to do group work. They will likely prefer to work alone. Since they did not work on school projects/assignments enough with others as children/teenagers, they do not have experience navigating the different roles in a group and how to succeed together.

Pic 3: Later down the line, they will look back and wish they had been given the chance to explore with other students and learn together. Whether it's by creating a presentation together or by conducting a science project together about large rocks.

Pic 4: However, there are many successful people out there who were either homeschooled or didn't experience many group settings in school. Some students have individual learning styles and thrive. As important as it is to work with others, too much group work can create academic pressure, especially if certain students are carrying the load for others.
